Terms of service

These are the terms for using ChangePeek, a service run by GearyWorks. They are short because the service is: you give us web pages, we check them and email you when they change. Using the service means you agree to what is on this page.

What the service does

For each page on your list we fetch it on a schedule, extract the readable text, compare it with the text from the previous check, and if it differs we record the added and removed lines and email you. Our fetcher identifies itself as ChangePeekBot/1.0 with a link back to this site, reads at most 3 MB of a page, and refuses addresses that point at private networks.

Plans

No credit card is needed for Free, and it does not expire.

Billing

Pro is billed monthly through Polar, which is the merchant of record: the charge on your statement comes from Polar, Polar holds your card details, and Polar issues the invoices. We never see your card number.

• Cancelling. Click Manage billing on your dashboard at any time. Pro stays on until the end of the month you have already paid for, then the account drops to Free. Nothing is deleted.
• Failed payments. If a charge fails, Polar retries it over the following days and we email you once per billing period with a link to fix the card. Pro stays on while it retries. If the retries run out, the subscription ends and the account drops to Free.
• More pages than Free allows. If you drop to Free with more than 3 pages, every page you already have keeps running, checked once a day. You cannot add another until you are on Pro again.
• Refunds. If Pro is not what you expected, reply to any email from us within 14 days of a charge and we will cancel the subscription and refund that charge in full. After 14 days a cancellation stops the next charge but the current month is not refunded.

Your side

• Only watch pages you are allowed to read. If a page is behind a login, we cannot see it and neither should you through us.
• Do not use the service to put load on a site. We fetch each page at most once an hour, and that is the ceiling for every plan.
• Keep your email address working. It is your only sign-in and the only place alerts go.
• One account per person or team; you are responsible for what is done with it.

What we do not promise

ChangePeek is a best-effort tool, offered as is. Specifically:

• A check can miss a change. Some pages block automated readers, load their text with scripts we cannot run on the free plan, or change in ways our text comparison does not catch. The dashboard shows when a page has been failing to fetch, but you should not rely on ChangePeek alone for anything where missing a change would cost you.
• The plain-English summary on Pro is written by an AI model from the changed text. It can be wrong or miss the point; the recorded lines underneath it are what actually changed.
• There is no uptime guarantee and no service credit. If something breaks we fix it as fast as one person can.
• Our liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to what you paid us in the three months before the problem, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending things

You can delete your account at any time from Settings; what that removes is spelled out on the privacy page. We may suspend or close an account that is used to overload a site, to watch pages it has no right to, or in a way that harms the service for others; if that happens on Pro you will be refunded for the unused part of the month.

Changes to these terms

If we change something that matters, such as prices, limits or the refund window, we will email the address on your account before it takes effect. Wording fixes just move the date at the top.
